Some other things to consider - faulty fans/dust in the machine (just hoover it out) that can block vents & airflow. Worse case scenario is if the cement inbetween the cpu & heat sink is compromised.

@neverlosty

That program seems to provide system logs, I believe it's something Mac OS X runs frequently to log errors.

Another application that maxes out my cores would be mdworker (Spotlight Indexer).

What's worse is that Apple doesn't seem to disable things from running that would decrease battery life if we're not plugged in.

One day, I was down to 1 hour of battery because I didn't realize that something was running at 100% for the past 30 minutes.

So far.. I'm trying to figure out a way to disable these system tasks when I'm on battery.

Hope I helped :) I'll keep you posted.

Hi,

I found out the issue in my case it was syslogd maxing out one of my cores.

Killing syslogd cooled down my comp in a few mins by 30 degrees.

sudo killall -9 syslogd

Still researching on why it happened :(

Hey Eugene,

I have the exact same problem. I've got a early 2007 edition (maybe the same or next iteration).

I'm just browsing and its at 83℃ and fan going maxed out.

Kinda just happened all of a sudden :(

If you do find a fix, please keep me informed.

cheers.
